The similarities between the two games run much deeper. Back in 2010, New Vegas was an incredibly exciting proposition, especially as it came out just two years after the runaway success of Example: Fallout 3 captures atmosphere really well, Fallout New Vegas doesn’t capture atmosphere quite as well but it’s multiple ways to tackle faction oriented missions make for better replay ability than Fallout 3. Also it doesn’t make sense telling people that they didn’t enjoy Fallout 3 more than New Vegas for it’s plot. New Vegas plays more like classic Fallout games but that's in part due to what Bethesda did with Fallout 3. There's no denying that both games are amazing RPGs, but when it comes to which one is the better Fallout game, Fallout 3 just barely wins out. New Vegas provides a better narrative and paints a far better picture of life after a nuclear Fallout 3 is SO much better than new vegas. When i completed new vegas i was like: ***? Why are you such a hater. It's a amazing game. The landscape technology, rendering and lighting is amazing and IT'S 4 TIMES THE SIZE OF FALLOUT 4! Whereas f:nv different factions make the player feel like their choices really matter and present wildly different missions and endings. Overall to just say fallout 3 is better because the exploration is better is ignorant of the poor storytelling in fallout 3 and of the great exploration of new vegas. Yes fallout 3s exploration is amazing but New Vegas had a little more depth, but fallout 3 is still very good. Light-years better than fallout 4.
